went on board "Albay" at 11 a.m. very rough, I sick, Giam Hoa (嚴清華)on board.

at 3 or 4 in eve. arrived at Tai wan-foo(台灣府), Mr. Barclay(巴克禮), Dr. Anderson(安彼得醫生）, Mrs. Ritchie (李庥牧師娘) & a Mr. Jeremiahoon there. I spoke in the eve. to students.

I preached in the forenoon on Ps 19:10 and in afternoon Mr. Barclay in eve. at Mission house.

went to Takaw(打狗) with Mr. Barclay(巴克禮) arrived at dark.

1879.10.22 Wed.

Called on Mrs. Smith, Marmens, Wright, Dr. Meyers & in eve. came to Pi-thau埤頭(鳳山).

1879.10.23 Thurs.

walked to A-li-kang(阿里港), extracted 153 teeth.

1879.10.24 Fri.

came over to Bak-sa(木柵). Had worship in eve. Giam Hoa & self spoke - 15 or 20 present.

1879.10/25 Sat.

came to Thau-sia(頭社) after dark. walked all day.

1879.10.26 Sun.

40 or 50 at worship, forenoon A-Hoa preached and in afternoon I did. on Isai. 1: 18 sins like scarlet-chapel small, trees all around.

Parted with Barclay then walked alone to Ka-poah-soa(吉貝耍), spent the night there -- --

walked to Ka-gi(嘉義)and spent eve. in chapel.

walked to Tau-lak(斗六) which is a large town. Spent the night in the inn.

at night arrived at Chip-chip(集集).

1879.10.31 Fri. 31.

started early and at noon passed through Tsui-sia(水社). had dinner in a house of one of the Sui-hoan. Saw monkey, Deer, KiuN-a & boar skull in large numbers, Some jet black with soot. arrived at Po-sia(埔社) late at night met Mr. Smith (施大闢牧師）I spoke on Ephe 4: 22 about putting off the old man-------,,--------,, ------------------------------------------

1879.11.01 Sat.

A very lovely day went to Gu-khun-soaN(牛睏山) preached in eve.

I preached at Gu-khun-soaN, then walked to Toa-lam(大湳) & preached then went to Thih-tiam-soaN(鐵砧山) & preached in eve.

Came out with Smith to little lake then to Chip-chip or Tsu-chip spent night together -- prayed & parted.

Walked through Lam-tau, Pak-tau & spent night 10 li north at shop at road side Ban-tau-lek-a

arrived at Toa-sia(大社), warm reception, preached in eve. wrote Campbell(甘為霖).

at noon arrived at Au-lang(後龍) and had dinner there, then came on to Sin-kang(新港).

1879.11.08 Sat.

wrote to MacLaren . Left Sin-kang early in morning & little out of Tiong-kang (中港)met Mr. Junor(閏虔益牧師) & Mrs. M. all turned back, but a-Hoa who went on up to Tamsui. In eve. Mr. Junor preached ----

all went to au-lang, place filled I and Seng preached forenoon & Tan-ho & myself in afternoon, then returned to Sin-kang. I preached there to all attentive....

1879.11.10 Mon.

Started for Tek-chham竹塹（新竹） and arrived little before dark, very windy. I preached in eve. good attendance.

1879.11.11 Tues.

at Tek-chham all day attending to sick people & preaching etc. in eve. preached, had very good attendance ___

Came to Ang-mng-kang (紅毛港)new chapel not quite finished, had service in Kho-Ju house in eve. I spoke in eve. on Rom. 3: 22. faith. place quite full.

came on by small road and a little after dinner arrived at Tiong-lek(中壢) very hot.

1879.11.14 Fri.

came on to Au-po-a(後埔仔). had worship in eve. I spoke. Junor baptized 4.

1879.11.15 Sat.

came to Toa-liong-pong (大龍洞)then went to Bang-kah(艋舺) to see the crowds. I preached & sang the gospel. Junor, Mrs. M. & Theng & his wife present in eve. at Toa-liong-pong-

went in morning to Lun-a-teng(崙仔頂) I preached, then to Chiu-nih(洲裡), then to Go-ko-khiN-(五股坑)- Junor went out to Tamsui (淡水)I had a splendid meeting in eve.
