Nov. 1896 1896.11.01 Sun. Kau-a(柯玖) went with me to Toa-tiu-tiaN(大稻埕) at 9.30 A.M. I preached on Ps. 55.22. Splendid meeting. A number were in tears. We came out in the afternoon and had a meeting at our house in the eve. 1896.11.02 Mon. “ Formosa” came in at 7.30 A.M. Hos. work 1896.11.03 Tues. Tan-He(陳火), Elder. Gu (劉牛) and the rest of met in my room to discuss ch. Matters. Eve. 51 in our room for worship. 1896.11.04 Wed. Hos. at 9 A.M. I operated on a man for Fistula in Ano. Then went again at noon. Eve. worship. Heard the students reciting. 1896.11.05 Thurs. Hos. at usual hour. Eve. worship at the house, sang for an hour and retired. 1896.11.06 Fri. Kau-a (柯玖)went with me across the harbor to Pat-li-hun(八里坌), then on to IN-khut-a(圓窟仔) where we had dinner. Went to KhiN-a(坑仔) and on to Lam-kham(南崁). Worship in the eve. 50 present. 1896.11.07 Sat. Went through Tho-a-hng(桃仔園) saw the rented chapel. Arrived at Toa-o-khau (大湖口)place of meeting. TiuN-jin-siu’s (張仁壽) house. Met for worship and sang hymns for an hour. 1896.11.08 Sun. Preached at 9 A.M. and baptized 19. All save the children have been hearers for 4 and 5 years – Went to Ang-mng-kang(紅毛港), then Tek-chham(竹塹） 100 were met at eve. worship. Grand meeting. 1896.11.09 Mon. Came to Tho-gu(土牛) in evening 50 met for worship—In Tiong-kang (中港)12 soldiers were in the Chapel. There were 3 Officers and 9 men. They came that morn. at 9 A.M. Had straw on the floor for beds—Were to leave next day. They were civil and respectable towards me. 1896.11.10 Tues. Came through Sin-kang(新港) to Au-lang(後龍) and had en eve. meeting 40 present. 1896.11.11 Wed. Kau-a and I went to Ba-nih(貓狸,即苗栗) church clean. Came back and Au-lang on eve. meeting 45. present. Got a letter from George— 1896.11.12 Thurs. At Au-lang(後龍) all day. Eve. 70 came to worship. I spoke on Ephe. III. 20 about God’s power in providing a Savior— 1896.11.13 Fri. Find day with wind blowing. 1896.11.14 Sat. Rev. Ohgimi (大儀見)did not arrive so we went to Sin-kang (新港)and I preached to a house full with children on the platform. We returned at Au-lang(後龍)— 1896.11.15 Sun. Rev. Ohgimi arrived. Chapel full. I bap.* 19 then went to Sin-kang (新港)had a short meeting and went to Tho-gu (土牛)and remained over night. Chapel full— *Au-lang 4 and Sin-kang 15 1896.11.16 Mon. Went to Geh-bai(月眉) and had dinner. Then went out to Tek-chham(竹塹） 215 at worship. I bap. 20—varying from 3 to 12 years of age hearers of the Gospel. Ordained an Elder and 3 Deacons. |
